Unfortunately, in recent movie and tv adaptations this humour is not conveyed. Unfortunate, because Jane Eyre is essentially about the importance of having a good life. In spite of the austere, uncertain and cruel times the Brontes lived in, the humour in Jane Eyre must have come as a surprise to its very first readers. And in a small way this humour adds to the novel becoming an uplifting book. Your sincere, well written and enjoyable blog here would give anyone stumbling upon it with an interest in classic novels a new insight and an immediate hunch that Jane Eyre as a novel is indeed uplifting, still relevant and a pleasure to read. Well done!Trickstershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18246131511438818422noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8072609778452128258.post-42469483613459279872012-08-22T07:28:15.545-07:002012-08-22T07:28:15.545-07:00Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting, ...Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting, Silvia! I stumbled upon your blog while was absentmindedly looking up some random info about "Jane Eyre" (incidentally one of my most beloved books), and it resonates with me not only because of the Jane Eyre thing but also because a year in France awaits me too... I'm also a bit desperate to make friends but I do hope I'll chance upon better people than you did... :-( So sorry to hear you had such a miserable time there!
